Partners BHM Requests Delay for Managed Care Operations and Medicaid Waiver Implementation

GASTONIA NC--Partners Behavioral Health Management has submitted a request to the NC Department of Health and Human Services to delay its implementation of the Medicaid 1915 (b)/(c) waivers and managed care operations by one month.  The requested start date would be February 1, 2013. Partners BHM will use the time to fully contract and train its provider network, hire additional staff needed for care coordination functions, and test information technology reporting systems.

“The intent of this decision is to maximize our preparation prior to operating in a managed care environment.  We firmly believe that local management of the services is best for consumers in our eight county area and that the additional month of preparation will allow for a smoother start for our providers, community stakeholders, and individuals receiving services,” said Partners BHM Chief Executive Officer Rhett Melton.

Partners Behavioral Health Management was formed on July 1, 2012 through the merger of Crossroads Behavioral Healthcare, Mental Health Partners, and Pathways LME. The organization currently oversees State-funded mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual/developmental disability services for residents of Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Surry, and Yadkin counties.
