Tailored Plan Implementation Delayed Until April 1, 2023
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) will delay the implementation of the NC Medicaid Managed Care Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Tailored Plans (Tailored Plans) until April 1, 2023. The decision is unanimously supported by the leadership of the state’s six Local Management Entity/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCOs).

Beginning on December 1, 2022, North Carolina’s Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCOs) will begin managing NC Medicaid Tailored Plans. Most people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), complex mental health needs and/or substance use disorders (SUD) will automatically transition to a Tailored Plan. The Tailored Plans will offer physical health and pharmacy services, in addition to behavioral health, IDD and TBI services.
