Partners Tailored Plan takes a proactive approach to addressing Opioid Misuse Prevention and Treatment through education and safety monitoring around  the risks of opioid misuse.

To prevent opioid misuse, Partners Tailored Plan:

• Uses a member lock-in program – This prevents overuse of prescribed controlled substances such as opioids and benzodiazepines and certain anxiolytics by designating only one provider who can prescribe the medication and only one pharmacy to fill it.
• Requires mandatory electronic prescribing – This assures pharmacists that the prescription received is exactly what the provider ordered. It also improves patient safety and enables cost savings for patients.
• Sets quantity and dosage limits on opioid prescriptions – Quantity limits and limited dosage per day (in morphine milligram equivalents) help to enhance patient safety, discourage misuse, waste or abuse, and promote appropriate and efficient drug use.
